Strengthening
Guardianship through Education, Training, and Networking
The
Ohio Guardianship Association is a non-profit organization
which aspires to strengthen guardianship and related services through
networking, continuing education, training, and other programs and
services.
The
OGA mission is to promote the highest quality of guardianship
services. OGA provides education, training, and networking
opportunities for guardians and other individuals concerned about
those deemed incompetent by the Probate Court. OGA promotes
the highest level of guardianship standards and ethics. OGA
members adhere to the Standards of Practice of the National
Guardianship Association.

envisions that all Ohio adults in need will have access to the highest
quality guardianship services.

Advocates that guardianship should only be used as a last resort,
and that less restrictive alternatives should be used whenever
possible.

Provides affordable education and training featuring topics
of immediate concern to practitioners through speakers, round
table discussions, debates and networking. These sessions bring
together multiple disciplines interested in upgrading their skills
and knowledge.

Provides support for those acting as guardians in Ohio.
This diverse group provides a forum for the exchange of information
and ideas.

Upholds the Standards of Practice and the Model Code of Ethics
of the National Guardianship Association.

Promotes public policies and legislation that advances
the highest standards of guardianship practice.

Provides members with a membership list on an annual basis.
This valuable tool provides names, addresses and phone numbers
of fellow OGA members for networking, communicating, and seeking
assistance with services in other areas of the state.

Is governed by a board of directors who carry out its mission.

The
Ohio Guardianship Association is a membership organization comprised
of people who are concerned about the care of adults who are incompetent
and/or who provide guardianship services in Ohio. Membership is
open to guardians, attorneys, representative payees, advocated,
judges, magistrates, physicians, social workers, bankers, case managers,
APS workers, educators, staff from hospitals, nursing homes and
group homes, and anyone else dedicated to improving the lives of
Ohio residents who are deemed incompetent.
The
OGA invites you to join this growing network of leaders from
across Ohio that is concerned about individuals who are in need
of guardianship and other protective services.
OGA
has both voting and non-voting memberships. Voting members must
be doing guardianship work, or be affiliated with an agency that
does guardianship work. You can be a professional member, a non-professional
(family) member, or an administrative member. Non-voting members
have an interest in guardianship services, but are not affiliated
with or employed by a guardianship program. You can be an affiliate
